“Run for Your Health” Race benefits Bethanna, a nonprofit child welfare agency
Southampton, Pa. – (November 2006) What better way to start Thanksgiving Day than by running in the “Run for Your Health” Race in Core Creek Park in Langhorne, Pa. Sponsored by the Bucks County Roadrunners Club (BCRR), the 17th Annual “Run for Your Health” 5-Mile Race and 1 Mile Fun Run will be held on November 23—Thanksgiving Day. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m.; the race and run/walk begin at 9:00 a.m.
Proceeds from the “Run for Your Health” benefit, Bethanna, a nonprofit child welfare agency which has been a serving children and families in Bucks County and surrounding communities for over 70 years. Last year, over 300 runners donated funds and collected 400 pounds of non-perishable canned goods in support of Bethanna’s adoption, foster care and support services, residential treatment facility and community treatment programs that serve at-risk children and families in crisis.
The Thanksgiving Day Race begins at the Summit Square Shopping Center (Route 413 and Doublewood Roads), loops around the scenic Core Creek Park in Middletown Township and returns to the shopping center. Over the years, the Thanksgiving Day race has grown in popularity.
“Our club and race sponsors wanted to give back to the community and to a charity that helps children to Bethanna in addition to food donations collected on race day,” said Richard Dunning who coordinated this year’s race along with his wife, Karen. Both are members of the Roadrunners Club which sponsors this annual event to raise awareness and money for Bethanna.
