"All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had." Acts 4:32
It has been one year since we announced some important changes on our Southampton campus. The Outpatient Mental Health Clinic continues to expand as referrals from other social service agencies, public children and youth organizations, and the court system increase. Our comprehensive system of foster care programs, adoption services, and behavioral health rehabilitation services work together to facilitate the transition of children and youth into permanent homes with caring families.
As always, our primary goal is to reunite children with their birth parents and ensure a healthy, secure home setting for them to succeed. Bethanna is stronger than ever and remains committed to our mission.
For over 75 years, Bethanna has offered an integrated network of social services for youth (birth to age 18) who have been victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment and have experienced trauma through no fault of their own. As a faith-based, non-denominational organization, Bethanna remains fully committed to serve children and teenagers in a Christ-like manner, demonstrating love, compassion, justice, and mercy.
In Pennsylvania, at any given time, 20,000 children are in the foster care system. The average length of placement for these children is 16 months. More than 30 percent of all children who spend between 12 and 24 months in the system experience three or more foster home placements. Almost one-third of children re-enter care within 12 months of re-joining their families and each year nearly 1,600 youth in Pennsylvania - many of whom are only 18 - "age out," or leave foster care into uncertain circumstances without a forever family.
These statistics can be overwhelming. Many people feel that there is no hope for these children and no amount of money can alleviate the problems they face each and every day - but not at Bethanna. Since 1934, Bethanna has provided the highest quality system of care for children and families in order to ensure safety, restore emotional wellness, and build family stability.
Again, this year we are not just asking for your help to send our foster children to camp. Our ability to rely on public dollars to support these children is diminishing. We need your gift to maintain our full range of services that allow our children to succeed and become productive citizens.
Bethanna is grateful for your most generous support and partnership. These children need you to take action now and send your gift today. Please remember that no gift is too small and that each gift has purpose and value. If you wish to direct your contribution to the Summer Camp Program, please indicate camp on your donation form. Bethanna is committed to improving our community today and tomorrow. You have always been part of our mission. Please remain a part of our future.
